google gemini research just blew me away. the ability to research complex and nuanced topics quickly is incredible. while i know that llms themselves are biased, you can have them explore an insane amount of information in a short period of time and create a report. on literally anything. how is this not the most amazing thing to ever happen to humanity. we can summarize hundreds of datasources, distil them down to their fundamental details, craft them together with other sources, and pull them together to create a detailed, cohesive, and well written essay on any topic ever.
and all this available for free. to everyone.
technology is amazing. the world is amazing. i can just know about something in incredible detail. there is an argument to be made that over reliance on this makes you easy to manipulate. the creator of the llm and the tools underlying its research control what you think. you still need to verify sources and check the facts. still, this is astounding. you can truly “know” the essence of things in a fairly reasonable amount of time. what an amazing tool. what an amazing time to be alive. we are slowly approaching something amazing. what will life look like in 10 years? it is genuinely a mystery
